Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Zagora
Your desert adventure begins early in the morning as your private driver picks you up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech. The drive leads you through the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, offering panoramic views and photo stops at small Berber villages nestled in the valleys. You’ll visit the legendary Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its ancient earthen architecture and its appearance in many films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. After exploring the kasbah and enjoying lunch in a local restaurant, continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa.” From there, the road follows the Draa Valley, the longest and most picturesque valley in Morocco, lined with palm groves, ancient kasbahs, and small traditional villages. Arrive in Zagora by late afternoon, where your camel awaits to take you across the dunes to your luxury desert camp. Day 4: Zagora – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast at the camp, enjoy a camel ride back to the meeting point or a short 4×4 transfer. Begin your journey back to Marrakech, retracing the scenic road along the Draa Valley with stops to admire the palm oases and traditional kasbahs that line the route. Continue through Ouarzazate, where you can visit Kasbah Taourirt or one of the local film studios if time allows. Lunch will be taken on the way before you cross once again the Tizi n’Tichka Pass in the Atlas Mountains.
