Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Agdz – Zagora
Your private desert journey begins early in the morning as your driver picks you up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech. The adventure starts with a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters. The road winds between charming Berber villages built from red clay, offering incredible photo stops along the way. You’ll continue towards the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most impressive examples of Moroccan earthen architecture. After visiting the kasbah and enjoying lunch in a local restaurant, the road continues to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa” for its film studios where many famous movies were shot. From there, you’ll follow the beautiful Draa Valley, a long green oasis filled with palm trees, ksours, and ancient kasbahs, until you reach Zagora in the late afternoon. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with mint tea before riding your camel through the dunes as the sun sets, painting the desert in shades of gold and orange. Tonight, you’ll settle into your luxury desert camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, and relax around the campfire with Berber music under the stars.

Day 2: Explore the Zagora Desert and Draa Valley

After breakfast at the camp, you’ll have a full day to explore the Zagora region and discover its hidden treasures. Your guide will take you to Tamgroute, an ancient village famous for its traditional green pottery and historic Koranic library, one of the oldest in Morocco. You’ll also visit underground kasbahs and meet local artisans who continue to make pottery using techniques passed down for generations. Later, you can enjoy lunch in a local restaurant or picnic in the shade of palm trees. The afternoon is free to relax or take a short walk through the dunes to enjoy the peaceful silence of the desert. As the evening approaches, you’ll ride camels once again to watch the sunset over the Zagora dunes before returning to your camp. Dinner will be served under the starry sky, followed by traditional Berber drumming and dancing around the fire — an unforgettable cultural experience in the heart of the desert.

Day 3: Zagora – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After a peaceful night and breakfast at the camp, you’ll ride your camel or take a 4×4 transfer back to meet your driver. Today’s journey takes you once again through the beautiful palm groves of the Draa Valley, where you can stop for photos and admire ancient kasbahs made of adobe. You’ll pass through Agdz and Ouarzazate, where you can visit Taourirt Kasbah or one of the movie studios if time allows. Lunch can be enjoyed in a local restaurant overlooking the mountains before you begin your drive back across the High Atlas Mountains. The scenery changes dramatically as you descend from the desert landscapes into the green valleys and colorful villages leading back to Marrakech. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon, where your driver will drop you off at your hotel or riad, marking the end of your unforgettable desert adventure.
